Flight safety and regulations
Vhaelum Aerial flies within the framework of Dutch and European drone regulations. For clients who expect transparency about operational limits, the relevant points are summarised below.
Operator registration
Registered as a drone operator with the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW). The operator number can be shared on request and is included on assignments where relevant.
Operational category
We fly in the A1 Open category with a sub-249 g aircraft. In practice this means:
- Visual line-of-sight (VLOS) — the aircraft remains within direct sight of the pilot.
- Maximum altitude 120 metres AGL.
- Daylight only, within applicable time windows.
- No flights over assemblies of people.
- Flights are aligned with no-fly zones, FRZs and local restrictions.
Service area
Primary service area: the Netherlands. On request, assignments can be carried out in Belgium or Germany, provided the regulations applicable there allow it and the operational framework is respected.
Outside our current scope
At this stage we do not undertake assignments in the following categories:
- BVLOS flights (beyond visual line-of-sight).
- Specific-category operations requiring additional authorisation.
- Night flights.
- Flights over or near large crowds and events.
- Weddings and public events.
- Thermographic inspections (RGB aerial imagery only).
